Mitra Mark Power will open the series with a teaching and exploration of awe. In this introductory talk, he will speak about the experiential nature of awe, with an invitation to view it as a path towards greater awareness. Through poetry, contemplations, meditation, and references to his experiences with the craft of carving wooden spoons, Mitra Mark will offer insight into the methods for building a pathway beyond concepts and limited definitions, encouraging open-hearted curiosity and kindness in our personal inquiry into the momentary and wakeful nature of awe. 

MARK POWER is a longtime student of the Buddha’s teachings, studying with his teacher, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, since the early 1990s. Like so many, he came to this path seeking to engage a larger, kinder, more playful sense of being. His compassionate care for others shines throughout his leadership roles at Nalandabodhi and his work as a chaplain and life coach. Today, Mitra Mark joyfully explores the interplay of dharma, relationships, leadership and the arts, encouraging  generosity of heart, humor and wisdom in every area of life.
